FN2010 Part 2: Munich, Germany

Our time in Munich was always going to be flavoured by the Australia v Germany game which took place on Sunday evening.

But while our boys took a belting from the very impressive Nationalmannschaft the extreme friendliness from the Bavarian locals meant we still had a terrific few days.

The first thing that struck us on entering Marienplatz, the city centre of Munich, was the vibrant feeling of the people.

Men and women of all ages were riding bicycles, walking the cobble-stoned streets and enjoying the sunny weather.

The metro was always busy, but never hectic, the people always polite to the silly Australians with flags draped around their shoulders.

Munich was made by the people that Patrick and I met: David, our French-Canadian-Australian football convert and Christian, Christopher, Stefan and Simon, the German locals who were kind enough to take us to the Olympia Stadion for the game.

Patrick and I loved the vibe in Munich and if the Germans manage to make it all the way to later stages of the tournament, we may just return.

great stuff, when I watch it I just feel young again, at least a kind of that, enjoy it, I have never been a great travellor but it must be a kind of freedom, and back to football, this thing where you can forget your problems at all, it’s matchday two and the Germans have met the bar quite high so it will be difficult to repeat that…. I hope so that you will return to Munich  and good luck for your second match, I wish your team the second place

Boys what a show! This is good stuff. How good is 2 brothers travelling around, drinking beers, watching sport and running a muck! Could it get any better. What about that stadium with a big screen!

Looking forward to the Paris vid. Keep up the good work with random fans.
